“The guiding principle of recovery is restoring a sense of power and control to the survivor.”
- Judith Herman

Trauma-informed yoga (TIY) is the practice of moving and breathing in a gentle, mindful way - one that honours your pace, your choices, and your nervous system.

Through simple movements, shapes, and breath awareness, TIY supports a gradual reconnection with the body and the present moment.

A cornerstone of this practice is choice and freedom. Every invitation is optional, and each session is shaped to support a felt sense of safety, agency, and personal autonomy.

Rather than aiming for performance or perfection, trauma-informed yoga offers a space to listen inward, respond to your body’s cues, and honour what feels right for you - moment to moment.

Several studies have shown that TIY can significantly reduce PTSD symptoms, improve sleep, and reduce anxiety and depression (Justice Resource Institute studies; West et al., 2017).

This yoga is for everybody, of any level of experience. All are welcome.

If you feel called to explore this work together one-on-one, I’d love to hear from you.
Trauma-informed yoga is also offered as part of our therapeutic group program - please visit the Group Work page for more details.

With deep respect, I acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live and work.
I pay my respects to Elders past and present, and honour the enduring wisdom, strength, and sovereignty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
